I've noticed some of my Guppies' eyes are black...

Sometimes when I look at my Guppies, some of my Guppies' eyes are completely black. Eventually, the blackness goes away, and their eyes become normal again. It doesn't seem to harm them or make them different in any way. Is this some kind of diease? Please help!

Black eyes might be just a mood change. (none / 0) (#1)

They can be carried by stressed, soon to be ill fish too, so keep up the water quality. :)

I think we actually just don't know most of the time. Watch your guppies. If their eyes change, note what was happening when they changed or what happened afterwards. Would their eyes change when interested in procreation?

There is at least one killifish species whose eyes turn a whitish-gray when they are "in the mood."
