Disaster has struck.

I had a stroke about a week ago. I can't care for the fish and am relying on my daughter to do water changes and feeding.

She works 10 hour days and now has responsibility for all housework and my care as well as the fish tanks.

May have to give them up for a while.

Good luck to everyone with their own tanks.

Wow! Good luck and God's blessings on your (none / 0) (#1)

recovery. Things like strokes put keeping little fishes into perspective.

Your daughter probably is familiar with giving the guppies just maintenance feedings. That way if there are to heavy "breeder feedings" there may not be so much to do in the realm of water changes. Leaving the aquarium heaters off or set lower (which may not matter this time of the year) might also lower their metabolism and need for food and water changes - at least in the cooler months. Maybe extras can be given away in order to keep the population modest (easier said than done with guppies).

Maybe that will make the burden a little less on her.

Take care of yourself. Strokes (from what little I know about them) seem to vary widely in their effects and can be awfully scary just because of the uncertainty. Some friends have been frustrated by the process of recovery, but pleased in time.

Hope to hear from you down the road and wish you all the best!

325 mg of Aspirin every morning ;)
