I'm going to tag along. It might be smarter to bring the digital camera and tripod and take shots. Having very cleverly not reserved space at a nearby resort at the very earliest possible time in vacation season, I may find myself chugging down I-80 every morning with an IV unit and coffee. ;)
The temptation to bring home fish will be easily resisted. There's not much room for newbies. There's hardly enough room for oldies! A box was left in a basket at a person's door in the middle of the night yesterday.
So I'll be playing hooky from Guppylog for a time.

Also, have been invited to Ceder Rapids, Iowa to present something upon "The Geography of Livebearers" to the Eastern Iowa Aquarium Associations monthly 7 PM meeting. So how does one pronounce EIAA? ;)
The meeting is on September 11th. They meet at Kenwood Presbyterian church, at 327 35th St., NE in Cedar Rapids. That is on the corner of 35th St., NE and C Avenue, NE. Let Google maps figure that one out for you. ;)
One imagines that a few livebearers will show up in their mini-auction.
Asked their president to survey what livebearers
they were interested in. The list included Endler's livebearer, platys, sailfin mollies, fancy swords, and fancy guppies.
Just cut back on the number of slides of wild livebearers which will be used. The origins of those hobby fish will obviously have to be discussed. And then several people from the audience will have additional and way better insights to share. :)
But knowing something of the habitat or geography can be handy. That way if they don't breed or thrive as well as we would hope, a long look at where they come from should give us hints on their aquarium care.
The Frapper map site (which isn't working well for my computer at the moment) mentions that there are some Guppylog members in Iowa. It's alway fun to say hi! Just in case anybody is in the "neighborhood" and (gasoline excepted) needs a cheap night out...
It is always interesting knowing that there are several people in a group like that who know more about the topic than I do. And that tempers the presentation. ;)
It is fun running a concept by folks and watching them take it and apply it in ways I never dreamed of.
