For the first time today my male is showing interest in my female. :)

He's not showing off like crazy or trying to put his gonopodium in her. He is just lazily chasing her and rubbing his mouths on her vent. I think they do that to stimulate the girls. It is the first time I have ever seen him show any attention to her at all. For short periods (only lastest about 3 seconds) he come up behind her and rubs his mouth on her. If she runs he chases her. Then he stops and continues swimming around aimlessly. I've seen this about 2 times today. Wonder what took him so long to finally get in the mood. I've had him for over a months now maybe two months. I checked to make sure and he isn't eating anything like a fry or some parasites coming out the rear end.
Wait!!! Usually males get a little more frisky when she is close to delivery. Does this mean she could have her babies soon? Or is he just a weirdo that radomly after a couple months wants to inseminate a female tank mate that's been there as long as he has. Because I'm pretty sure she is pregnant. She looks like she still has a week or do to go. But she is young and young females usually don't get very big. I'm pretty sure this will be her first batch. I doubt she could have any fry at to much of a younger age. Well, I'm assuming she is young because of her small size. She seems to have gotten longer since when I got her. Her belly also has been growing the past few weeks too. She was probably inseminated before I got her. Or maybe it is my present male he just does that when I am not around. Don't see why he would care if I was around of not though.
 THANKS!!!

the tank. And do another partial water change and feed some rinsed, gently defrosted food. ;)

PS: It would take the Camallanus three months to mature and by then it might be too late for him.

lol...I'll go out and buy a Barry White cd right away. No, but I don't get what you mean at that last part. Are you saying he has cammallanus? Are you saying he could? He dosen't seem to last I checked. Although his poop is red. So his hers. I know it isn't any worm though. I think it is because I feed tetra color. Those fakes are red. I read that their poop with be the same color as their food. Also how do you gently defrost food? I know how to defrost, but gently defrostion I have never heard of.
 THANKS!!! :)

My male started showing off to her today. He is spread his fins, mouthing her vent, chasing her, and showing off his gonopodium. I think she is going to have her babies soon (knock on wood) and that would explain his sudden interest. Can't wait. He's actually trying to get her attention instead of ignoring her!!!

Smart guppy. Why court her when it makes no (none / 0) (#4)

difference? The only relationship he will have with her is one or two procreative activities. It  really doesn't make sense to interpret a fish's activities from a human perspective.

Of course from a man's perspective it still takes very little effort to sire a child. It does take 20-30 years to be a real man and be a father. (And try as we might, we will still get some of it wrong.)

Gently defrosted frozen food is put into a small jar of Luke warm or cool water. Freezing breaks open enough shells and cells in the frozen food. Commercial flash freezing should mess up less, but there will still be some waste material. Hot water used to defrost would break open even more. The rinse through a net or sieve allows us to pour that organic soup off so we haven't just doubled the ammonia in our fish tank.

Putting the stuff in a jar of clean, seasoned water (I have the luxury of using RO water so the TDS isn't raised too much) allows us to use a turkey baster or smaller pippet, dedicated to the fish, to feed at a fairly precisely location and to feed just what the fish can consume.
