Are salt water tanks hard to take care of because last time I looked at them they seemed realy hard to mantain. Is this the truth or has it changed over the years.

Today I was at a pet store and the guy said that it has changed and that it is just as easy to take care of as a fresh water tank accept that it requiers a little more attention on the water changes is this true?
