Just an update on my fresh and saltwater aquariums.

My freshwater has been doing absolutely great this past few weeks (no deaths, fog, hardly any algae, and the guppies are growing up so fast.XD) The water quality is a big improvment since the episode with the HUGE ammonia spike. I've been real content with my freshwater, they're is always a parade of plopping when I come into the room. I love their personalities!

On the other hand, my saltwater has been doing so-so. I've been getting plenty of advice on how to care for a saltwater tank over at a very reliable FISHstore (not only kind, but knowledable about their fish.) They only do saltwater, and they do a great job from what I've seen. The water quality is is a bit harder to kep perfect but I can manage most of it.It's already growing the brown algae.:) I think I'm doing pretty well for my first saltwater:) We have 4 fish in there right now (already hit our limit): 2 baby clownfish, 1 yellowtailed damsel (azure maybe?), and a royal gramma basslet. However the gramma is getting picked on by the damsel, I know that damsels can be agrresive, but I was thinking mostly with their own kind. Poor litle thing got beat up as soon as we put him in:( I'm trying to find out how I can stop this before the damsel kills it... Good thing is that the gramma found the absolute perfect place to hide when the damsel gets feisty. Other wise the tank is fine, just have to get those two to stop fighting.

I called them yesterday, the damsel can sometimes be aggressive even with fish that aren't it's own kind (some are more controlling than others). But they reccommended that I feed them more shrimp and move the rocks around, because that will distract the damsel. I did all of those things and the damsel has stopped bullying the basslet. He now comes out from his rock so that we can finally see all of his colors:) But the damsel does still puff out his fins the basslet gets too close to his favorite rock.
What? Were you expecting something funny?

Glad to hear about your guppies and that (none / 0) (#1)

the marine set-up is off and running. Sorry to hear about the damsel fish bullying the basslet. (Isn't it actually a tiny relative of the groupers?) What do the people in your specialty say about that damsel fish?
