yeah, ALL GLASS aquarium does sort of cover the whole "i wonder what its made of" question. i do have a bit of experience with the acrylic tanks and their care. my 5 gal and 1 gal are both acrylic. i can get the gravel in ok, but the problem with those is my cat. she loves to sit on top of the aquariums, but is a little clumsy so sometimes she slides off when she tries to jump on top. there are a couple scratches on the sde of the 5 gal form her trying to catch herself as she slid(down a smooth surface. not very bright, that kitty of mine).
so you're saying that if i were to get one of the 12 gallon eclipses, there's no way i'd be able to stock it with 12 inches of fish? i thought the filtration looked really cool/effective. its supposed to have like, a 3 part system but i really don't remember and i'd have to re-look that.
i was looking into them because i was hoping, this year, i could setup a tropical tank in this teacher's class. she and i sort of became freinds last year. she was my life science teacher. i sort of saved the betta her mom got her for her birthday. it was in one of the dreaded betta vases, that came with the ludicrous directions. so we moved him into a 5 gal in her classroom. he's now in a 5 gal. in my room. sometime during the first week of school, he'll be moved back to his old tank. ANYWAY, i was hoping to set up a tropical tank with a platy trio this year. no, i haven't checked it out with her, but i was just looking at tank prices when i came across the eclipses.
i think it would be a great experience for her class to have the breeding and development of the babies take place in the classroom, although care for them and the betta will be harder this year, because i'm not in her class and will have to take time after school for maintenance and stuff.
