I went to LPS because I miss my fish sooooo bad.  I got 1 female guppy who looks like she is pg but only about 1-2 weeks along.  I also got 3 ghost shrimp.  I have always wanted them and here they were only 30 cents a peice.  YEAH....

As for my sis tank....

After many hours of staring into the tank I found the green water problem and its now fixed.

The whisper filter that she has (like all whisper filters) has a spot for 2 suckioncups (yes I can't spell).  Well she only had one on it.  So I asked her where the other one was and she told me that it only came with 1.  I am guessing that someone stole it out of the box at walmart. What I had thought was the hole where the cup should be was pushing water out of it, and thats where the problem lies.  The water that was comin gout of the back of the filter was not getting cleaned and it was just putting the gunk back into the tank. I made a temp-fix with a peice of plastic and now the tank is little milky but lots better.

Today at the LPS I got some fix a tank stuff for cracks and all that.  I used it to seal the hole on the back of the whisper filter.  So in 24 hours I will put it back in that tank and we should be good.

LPS is local phish store? (none / 0) (#1)

If that was silicone aquarium sealant you used, put a piece of kitchen plastic wrap between the cap and the tube. It may stay fresh longer that way. :)

Great detectve job on the pump!

Hope the ghost shrimp are most entertaining. Give them some sort of substrate or gravel bottom. They will feed more secure and be less stressed.

atb!

I just put them in the fish tank so they have a gravel bottem.  But one of them died so the others have been snacking on it.  they have not bugged the other fish and I keep a close eye on them.

The tank gets clearer everyday so we are getting her up and running right now.  I am glad that I found the problem when I did.
Happy fish keeping :-)

Not the end of the world, but when an aquarium (none / 0) (#5)
by unclescott on Tue Aug 29, 2006 at 12:35:35 PM PST

critter dies, it might be a disease or (here maybe stress). Get the body out rather than innoculate everyone else. I know that spoils their fun. ;)

I was thinking PET because it had all kinds of animals in there.  My next pet is a rat... thats what I went in to get but they were all out.
Happy fish keeping :-)
