How do I know if she is just skinny (maybe too old to get pregnant) or parasites?

Ok, stats:

1) 55 gallon

2) Two indwelling hanging filters

3) About 20 fish (platies actually) plus 3 cory

4) Ammonia 0

5) Change 20-25% water every 2 weeks (water bill too high at weekly, though I prefer it).

6) pH in tank water..6.6

She is a female and I have had her for about 6 months...she was full-grown when I got her, so guessing between a year and 1.5 years old. She is VERY perky still...no clamped fins, etc. Just super skinny. I haven't noticed any funky feces coming out. Could she just be getting older so not able to be pregnant and hold weight as well?

good...then I can just let her live out the rest of her life. Rate at which she is going, that'll be a while..she's still perky and runs everytime the net comes in the water when I debate whether to take her out..figure if she can disappear that fast, can't be too bad off. ;) lol

another guppy for internal parasites (or new ones in quarantine) you might also treat her - just to see. :)

everyone else looks great. Though I did have a HORRIBLE dream about my fish pooping out parasites longer than my hand and inches wide...does anyone else CONSTANTLY dream about their fish? My dreams are almost always something going wrong (like fish jumping out, getting stuck in filter, etc). :-p

Oh god yes. Especially now I have two saltwater tanks I have dreams all the time lately. And that's only when you're asleep. When awake there are dreams and nightmares too :))

I would treat that fish and any others in with her just to be sure although treatment is no guarantee anyway. Even if she is aged she may have developed a problem with some internal parasites just b/c she doesn't have a good immunity any more.

i have a female black molly who is now about 1.8 or more years old. she is only about 3/4 as fat as the younger tankmates. she's still pretty healthy looking, so i don't worry, but i think it's sort of a fishy menopause thing. she poos normal too.
