Hey I thought it was about time for me to check in.
All is good with my little fish.  Just so you all know Sassy has had no more fry and thats a good thing if you remeber what happened to the last batch.

I have had no more fry since my last log.  So the ones that I have are Sassys babies.  Some of them were off to a slow start and I have just 3 left that I can't sex because they are to small.  They are doing good though.

Right now I am trying to breed my own type of guppy ( we'll see how that goes) I have taken 2 of my Cobra Males and 2 females, a black and blue tail and a yellow and blue tail, I hope all turns out for the good.  I have had them in the nursery for about 4 days now.  I will wait a week I think and then I will move the males back to the 10 gallon.  Unless you think I should leave them in there longer jsut to make sure they get pg?

We have added 3 new fish to our female tank.
1. Silver molly (Male)
1. Shark looking thing can't remeber the name (pet store says that it is shark by name not by life and I made sure that he would not hurt my guppies)
1. Blue Gourami

I was hoping the the Silver Molly would mate with my 2 Dalmation Mollies but he has not even looked twice at them.  So much for that.

We have also had a snail out break from when I got the 29 gallon tank but I have it under control.  Most of the eggs are in the nursery tank and when they hatch and get to about the size of a dime I take them to the pet store.  They are always in need.

Well I need to do some looking around so I hope all is well in your fishy world.

Have a Peaceful day....
Peace

Hi J-ME, that's great news about sassy. Hopefully she will live a long, happy life now.

Livevearer males usually can't fertilize the (previously pregnant) females until just after the females drop. I'll bet your male molly shows more interest then. ;)

That shark looking thing is probably a member of the Labeos, which include redtail "sharks" and black sharks and so on. They are really Cyprinids and related to minnows and carps. They probably will leave the livebearers alone in the 29. But they are very territorial towards similar fish, so just keep him. Give him a chemical free flowerpot on its side or with a piece missing. He may make himself at home in such a place. (Or not, they just will not read the books!)

Usually blue gouramis are ok, but they do get pretty big and can be a little pushy around guppies. (And, as you surely guessed, they just love baby guppies.) You could get even, spawn the blue gouramis or Trichogaster trichopterus. The couple 100 TINY baby gouramis would be just loved by the guppies. ;)

I think that is terrific that your shop is taking the snails and even paying for them! Kudos to you for asking them and for the shop for saying yes!

I think the name of the Shark starts with an A.  My hubby knows what kind it is. He is the one that picked him out.  And boy was he a pricy one. The Shark is Silver black and gold.  If I can get a picture of him I will.  I am going to have to get him a pot like you say.  He looks a little out of place in my tank.  He doesn't do much but just swim around the front of the tank.  He never seems to want to hide, but he leaves the guppies alone.

The Blue Gouramis is doing ok now.  He is VERY shy.  If you walk by the tank he runs and hides behind the filter.  He comes out to eat and mostly at night so I am not the worried about it.  He seems to be ok other wise.  And I might be a good thing that he likes guppy fry.  It will help me keep my tanks somewhat under contorl.  Right now all that I want to do is breed my own and see how they turn out.  No more suprise fish.

Thanks Unc
Happy fish keeping :-)
