My guppies are being either picky or just plain normal.......I cant tell Im only 1 month worth of guppykeeping.

Iv kept goldfish, tetras, and even an angelfish. That was all with the help of my parents, when I was around 5 or 6. Now that Im doin this alone I have many questions that I dont know and my parents dont either. Guppies are new.
I feed my guppies at morning and night, not that much. The amount is fine, no food hits the ground and there not starved either. Recently Iv noticed that when any of my three guppies bites a Tropical Fish Food flake, it will usually spit all of it or most of it out, then move on to another. Normal or strange?

do they spit out EACH flake? if they do, it could be bacteria in their throats, signaling an internal bacterial infection.

does each individual fish spit out one or two types(colors) of flake but accept the others? maybe it is just individual taste.

or, does the whole tank reject a certain color? my first year with mollies, the entire tank rejected the red flakes. they ate the others, though.

if they spit out all of the flakes, it could also be that your flake food has gone bad and you need a knew container. give that a try. if they are still rejecting each flake, it's most likely a disease.

maybe you could try crushing your flakes into smaller peices before feeding. try to feed the same amount even with this method though. sometimes my fish will spit out a flake that they think is too big but they eat the smaller ones.

   hope that helps!

Do watch and see if they're spitting *everything* out though.  Are they doing anything else unusual, like "gasping" even when at rest, or are their fins kinds clamped at their sides as opposed to being spread out?  Look carefully in their mouths when you get a chance and see if you see anything white and fuzzy.

I looked into Hiroshima's mouth, well tried, no fuzz that I could see. There not gasping. Hiroshima is about to give birth though so maybe she wasnt the ideal guppy to examine.
