Hello!
As summer rolls into being, I thought I'd update my GuppyLog diary to keep tabs on things, if for nothing else.
I guess the biggest news is: BABIES! Or should I say "fry" -- whatever you call them, it's guppy-riffic in my tank right now.
Just before the Memorial Day holiday (May 27-29, 2006) the tank had been getting better (with respect to the greenwater problem I'd been having) due to the introduction of a lot of plants. I bought a couple different kinds, including a sword plant, a cool medium sized one that has a bunch of little, thick leaves, and of course your common PetSmart special plants (the kind that sprout shoots, which have tiny clones of themselves growing every three inches or so), plus several of the dried "pods" that sprouted fast-growing leaves and flower shoots.
The plants do seem to have benefitted from the "natural" CO2 system (water, sugar, yeast & "stabalizer").
When we got back from the vacation, we were surprised to find that we had about 20-30 new fry! These were mostly gups, although our black balloon molly had evidently been hard at work herself, 'cause now there's many little black fry in the mix too!
Pics forthcoming. I've been busy lately!
