I keep reading that many people think Salifert are the only test kits to buy but to be honest I doubt that it matters too much and I think they are the most expensive. I use Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and also have a Red Sea and a Sera in kits for my saltwater tanks. All are much of a muchness.

Can't help you on where to get them b/c I'm in Oz :)

I use the pond care tests but they are the ones with the liquid and test tubes so I wouldn't suggest them for a beginner.

I have the test tub ones and I really like them.  This is the first time that I have ever used them and I find the test tub ones very easy to use.

I got my online at Dr. Foster and Smith

But there are chemicals in them that our younger readers shouldn't be handling without adult supervision whereas the tests strips can be used by most any age (as long as they aren't ingested)
