ok :). i voted, and will try to remember to do so each day. i really like this site. it's easy to find things, not very complicated to post on (although the system does take a little getting used to), and if you look at the IH before posting, the people here are overall very freindly ;).
as much as i like the idea of having more fish minds as resources, which means a more varied range of advice, i think we should look at the pros and cons of having a small online community Vs. a large online community.
with a large online community, there is more of a chance of the occasional sicko to log on. i know the mods here can handle a few, but as the community gets larger, so will the amount of sickos, and the poor mods will be racing to delete accounts and posts.
also, with more people joining, younger kids may start to enter the system, who know no better than to post personal info. address, full name, etc. add that with the sickos and you've got a recipe for disaster.
however, as i said before, the more people join, the more advice you'll get from a question. and the whole point of this site is to exchange information and tips from aquarist to aquarist.
with a small community, you have the opposite. less sickos, no small children. but less info.
although, if i do say so myself, i think alot of the experienced users here already give enough info (winks to unc).
i just thought i'd point that out. if you want an example of a good site gone haywire by too many users, check out www.neopets.com. i'm not sure if you can read their boards (forums) without joining, but if you can't, just create an account at 13 or older, and give a false email. you could give a true email, but i think you'll find the site pretty boring (as i've started to), so there's really no point. there are about 100 million users, and about 10 million are people who are just there to get on your nerves, or they'll start a board on how they should kill themselves or something. alot of people give personal info there too.
guess that's it!
