gah! i hate waiting for births...

They always seem to take forever. my fave female (read: Have i got a weird fish or what?) is due to give birth on the 21st of this month. i will only have the babies for a week though, before they go to my science teacher's room. i am waiting to hear if she can take the babies after the end of the schoolyear, but it all depends if her grandma still has her empty 20 gal. she offered to let my teacher have it just under a week ago.

i really can't wait for the fry. i am a little sad that i only get them for a week. but i can see them every weekday until june 16, though. if mrs. parr can't keep them, we'll see if there is anyone in the grade that has a set up tank.

so impatient. how many of you have seen a birth, anyway? i've never seen one.

on the side, i found out how much the heater to mrs. Parr's tank will cost. apparently, i should get a 50-75 watt, and it will be just under $20 (US).Mrs. parr hasn't got a heater, because all she's ever had in the 20-30 gal is goldfish and Refugees from our local lake. i offered to get her one. she says she won't let herself keep it after the end of the year, so i'll HAVE to get a 30 gal to go with it...snicker snicker.

actually, i have been planning to start saving now for a 30 gal. it's still in planning stages though...

I've never seen a fry born but don't wish too hard. My son's girlfriend had never seen anything born until she spent a day with me. 20+ baby goats later and severe exhaustion on our part and she was sated :)

The miracle of birth will never cease to amaze me. I've seen many humans, puppies, kittens, kids and calves born and I've seen birds and gheckos hatch but never seen a fish do it despite many hours of watching. I thought I saw a fry born one day but it was too quick and mum sort of dived behind a rock at the same time.
