-Question regarding Guppy Breeding-

Is it uncommon for guppies not to have a drop in over 40 days? What causes this? Any ideas?

i'm sorry, i wouldn't really know. i have mollies. 2, actually. my molly hasn't dropped in 38. she is black, and i can't see her gravid spot.

is her gravid spot big? if you look at her from behind, does she look almost boxy?do you think she is rounder in the back than she was a few weeks ago? how big is the tank? who/what are her tankmates? what is the temperature? have you bred guppies/livebearers before? are these your first guppies? have you added any new fish lately? have you moved her to a different tank or any breeding contraption in the last couple weeks? did you see the mating? if you did, did it happen once, or multiple times? have you seen this particular female give birth before? even if you haven't seen it, is this her first batch that you know of?

yes, i know that is a boatload of questions and some might seem stupid/obvious, because in most cases, they are. but there is always that one extra case... but please, try and answer them all.

is her gravid spot big? Yes, she is a dark colored guppy, and her gravid spot is the biggest and darkest of all the guppies I have.

if you look at her from behind, does she look almost boxy? some, but not nearly as much as other females.

do you think she is rounder in the back than she was a few weeks ago? about the same.

how big is the tank? 5 U.S. gallons

who/what are her tankmates? currently one other female guppy, and 1 lonesome fry (others died/got eaten :( :(  )who is in a protective breeder net thing.

what is the temperature? 76 degrees

have you bred guppies/livebearers before? oh yes, just guppies though.

are these your first guppies? no

have you added any new fish lately? no

have you moved her to a different tank or any breeding contraption in the last couple weeks? yes, about 2 days ago.

did you see the mating?
I've never actually seen guppy mating. what happens?

if you did, did it happen once, or multiple times? (see previous question response)

have you seen this particular female give birth before?
not this particular one.

even if you haven't seen it, is this her first batch that you know of?
no

posted.

I hear exercise can induce birthing. Don't suppose you could take her walking or jogging? ;)

About 43 days now, and still no drop. :( :(

I'm beginning to think she may have become sterile or something. Hopefully not.

I once had a fish that went about 4 months (after purchase) without dropping then out of the blue she got bigger and her gravid spot darkened and away she went having fry every month for about a year.
