Niki had 10 fry and other things i need help with.

Two days ago Niki had 10 fry and they are doing good.  The last batch of fry from Shela (when she died)are growen up and i have 3 female and 1 male all in a ten gallon tank.  I am buying a new 10 gallon tank today so i can put the fry in there when they are big enough.  Since Niki gave birth she has been chasing Wade around the tank and she bites at his tail and now it is all frayed. i was wondering if i should put him in a 10 gallon tank with the other male guppy (his son) and out Niki in the other 10 gallon tank with the 3 female?? I really dont know how Niki will treat the other females but hopefully she stops being mean. Maybe its from haveing babies or being pregnant....i dont know.

That's tough call.  A fish that's aggressive with its own species is tough to find a spot for.  Maybe she would be less aggressive in a tank full of females?  It would be a risk to find out, and you'd have to watch her carefully.

Maybe she's tired of being 'knocked up' and taking her frustrations out on her partner :-).

it sounds like a good idea to separate the two.

you could always put her in the new 10 gal, couldn't you? and once they fry need the space, take her out and put her with the females. if she is still too aggressive, you may have to think about putting her down. a fish that can't cooperate is worthless, and will only cause trouble, especially if her fry inherit the trait.

it sounds evil, i know, but sometimes there is nothing you can do but think of the rest of your tank. she may have gorgeous colors, but being good looking is nothing if you rip your mate to shreds.
