I was at the fish store yesterday, and to my delight their prices on fish tanks are very, very good.  Tomorrow I am going to pick up a ten gallon tank, the first of many I suspect.

I was looking in the guppy tank and they have the most striking male, a yellow cobra with a great band of red around his body.  Too bad when I bought mine I said "give me the first two you pull out with the net!"  Oh well, the females I bought came from that tank too so it's just as likely they're impregnated by him as they are by the male I bought (who is very handsome in his own blue and black way).

I brought home another female since I was starting to worry my male may be chasing my original female to death.  She is gorgeous; a very elegant looking fish with sky blue veins in her tail and dorsal fin.  She should have nice blue babies with my male.

I started keeping a journal as of last night of my breeding practices;  I figure it will help once my guppy numbers start multiplying.

Good idea on the journal I think I am going to start doing the same thing. Thank you for the great idea....
Good luck on your guppies and I hope that you have the croba fry like you want

Happy fish keeping :-)

You always think you will remember something but 12 months down the track it's a different story. I have a folder in which I record water changes, births, deaths, treatments or tank changes but unfortunately I didn't write down the light bulb changes - stoopid!

I don't get as precise as recording water changes (mostly because I change water A LOT) but I plan to record births, deaths, survival rates, feed and tank changes.

Recording water changes is a great (none / 0) (#4)

idea though. Maybe get a cheap copy of calendar maker and record water changes, feeding, observations of health, temp, light, tank tests, day by day.

This will probably only work for a few tanks though there are people who leave (plastic covered) logs on each aquarium.

All the best!
