Well my babies are doing good but for some reason unknown to me I have gone from 20 fry to about 8 in about 1 1/2 weeks.

Well my babies are doing good but for some reason unknown to me I have gone from 20 fry to about 8 in about 1 1/2 weeks.  They are on thier own side of the tank and the only thing over there is a snail to eat up all the left overs and I clean 20% tank everyother day.  But hey as long as I have the 8 then thats fine becasue right now I only have a 10 gal. tank and I don't have the room for a bunch of guppies.... Hopefuly in the next few weeks I can get a bigger tank and then use the 10 gal tank for just a breeding and fry tank.

The fry are getting very big.  They are now playing with each other and are getting dark on the rear fin.  I still don't see much color but I am sure they are still to young.

Well I will be back to write more in a few days.

J-ME you have mentioned a couple of times that you have a sort of divider in the tank to keep the fry separate from the adults. Is there anyway some of the fry can get round that and in with the adults? I mean they are pretty darn tiny.

I had heard somewhere else about a person who cut the divider to size and then sliced airline tubing and slipped it over the edges so when it was fitted into place there were no gaps.

Congrats on your guppy fry J-ME.  I suppose because we are so new to this that we are lucky to have any babies survive at all.  I think if you have more litters you will see your survival rate increase.  I know I was pretty sad when one of my fry died a few nights ago.

I am hoping that the longer I do it the more will I can get to live.  I never thought that this is something I would be into but I really like it.  My fish are like my kids.  Kinda funny.... :-)
THank you

i've had some weird births. once, my fave balloon molly gave birth to ONE fry, when she SHOULD have had atleast a dozen. she died before the next litter came. the baby died too, and i was bummed. now my other molly is preg, and she and my guppy are due to deliver on the SAME day! weird, huh?

Question for you:  I have 2 female dalmation mollies.  I think they are pregaent but not for sure.  How do you tell?  How long are they pg for?  And what are the signs that she is about to have them?  Are they about the same as female guppies in their pg or different?

I have one thats really big but I can't tell if she is just a pig (lol) or shes pg and I thought the other one was pg but she still has yet to have the fry.  I have a male molly that just won't leave the female alone.  He chases them around the tank and appiers to rub up against them and the belly fin kinda moves forward (I don't know what else to compare it to).
Could you please help me out?

Thank you
J-ME
