I found this website a couple of weeks ago. And after reading a couple of entries regarding colors and breeding I decided to pass it on:

http://www.guppyinfo.com/

This is for The Guppy Designer and deals with guppy genetics. Want to start a new strain? Read the genetics articles here.

Breeding for a specific color or tail shape, read the entries here.

I drowned in an ocean of information that I'm still trying to get my mind around.

I always have to make out a list of what I want for Christmas for my son. He doesn't have a clue except that I'm into fish right now. At the top of the list was Shubel's new book along with a couple of others that are out of print but were recommended. Also a gift certificate to my favorite box store for equipment.

May your holiday be happy and may your New Year be filled with healthy, thriving fish.

I love this site too!!!

Wow! That site, at a quick glance, has some very (none / 0) (#1)

interesting and useful info on genetics. Actually they have a LOT if it. I've heard before that different albino guppies may have different causes. Their discussion of a Lutino Blue Neon guppy brought that out:

"The lutino guppy has a form of albinism, so it is autosomal recessive. If you cross a lutino guppy with a RREA albino guppy, all the F1 are grey, indicating that the lutino allele is at a different locus than the red-eye albino. The F2 generation produces the expected Mendelian ratios of grays, RREA and lutino guppies."

(RREA = real red eye albino, as opposed to WREA or wine red eye albino. Lutino refers to the prescence of some dark pigment or partial melanism.)

This looks like one of those site where you keep a notebook handy or also have Word opened for quick notes and references. Thank you for sharing it. Certainly they dissect color forms in a way which we never have done at GL!
