Male guppies got sick and one died :(
|
| So I bought four guppies about 2.5 months ago- two males and two females, orange and blue. They live in a small (2 gallon perhaps) tank, and I feed them standard fish food. Just recently I noticed that one of the males got "heavy" (i.e. had trouble swimming upwards) and kept lying on the bottom. However when it came to feeding time, he would eat just as other fish do. It seemed that he was constantly tired. Then the same thing happened to another male. The first male died now, and the second one behaves like a "heavy" one. The females are doing alright though, and one of them is probably pregnant. I am wondering, why would only males get sick and die, and could it be due to "hen-pecking" by the pregant female, since that's what happened when I had guppies last time. Any suggestions on how can I save the other male? Should I put him into a separate tank for the time being? |
