They grow up so fast... *sniff*

My fry's first experience with tubifex worms.

Just for fun, I put a tiny corner of a freeze-dried tubifex worm cube into the fry tank today.  I didn't know what to expect, but these guys turning into miniature sharks.. that wasn't it.  There's no way they'll finish it, so I'm only leaving it in there for a while, but... it seems those worms are just the right size for their tiny mouths, and I imagine somehow that the floating clump will mentally stimulate them.  Variety.

The three that normally feed at the top of the tank are just going wild, including the biggest first-born I've gotten so attached to.  I just love watching them get an end in their mouth and go into throes of... guppy-anger?  and tear it apart a little at a time.

The two normal bottom-feeders wander up and down a bit.  I still haven't found the sixth little guy, but I guess one dead fry in a tank won't foul it too badly.  The little guy was just swimming bones anyway.

I think this'll be a once-in-a-blue-moon treat for them, though.  Everything in moderation.

...

I wonder if they'd like smooshed up cucumber.  *schemes*

Speaking of veggies, try using a crushed up pea here and there.  I've also bought frozen BBS (baby brine shrimp) and they go nuts over that as well.  I think someone else here has mentioned feeding them a zuchini ring.

And Hikari sinking carnivore pellets are great for our entertainment too :)
