Re-absorbing fry??

I've now heard this from 2 different sources

Is it possible for a guppy to reabsorb her fry? My female never did drop hers (believe me there is no possible way I missed it, I was even waking every hour at night to check on her). She is now skinnier, the black gravid spot has turned red, and her health has gotten better (no more clamped fins or fungus on her mouth)so I took her out of the breeder net after a day of this. Anyone else heard of this?
