My fry are about 2 1/2 weeks old.

I put the lamp from the fish tank to the back of the tank so that light shines on them and you can "supposedly" see the gravid spot! Well, I can't! I really don't want these fry to reproduce with eachother so I will get 50,000 fry! When should I separate them? Give me an amount of weeks! Also, give me an amount of weeks of when I am able to put them back into the grown ups tank without them being eaten!

Thank you for your help!

It is almost impossible to not get the females pregnant. The simple solution if you dont want fry is to let your other fush eat them.

Hope this helps,

Josh

I am keeping the temperature at 74*-76*, is that ok?
Yes, I know patience butI am jsut so afraid that the males will impregnate the females. Is it possible to have an all male batch? And is it ok that my fry are a little chubby? Hehe, I do feed them a lot...

It's ok if your fry are chubby.  Depending on how many fry you have, you can have more of 1 sex than another.  I started out with 6 fry and I thought they were all males and then bang! 4 decided they would trick me.

Ok, good, it is better to have the fry eat than the fry not eat right?! I just hope that I can tell them apart soon because when my friend came over, I showed her them while the light was in back of the tank and she said she couldn't see the gravid spot. SO I AM NOT CRAZY!! Hehehe

You should be able to tell them apart from 3-4 weeks old. If you can not see gravid spots to well as sometimes the color of the guppy can make the task difficult, try looking at the different shaped bottom fins. Fan shaped are females, And strait, long, and pointed are males.

Good luck

It may even be into five weeks if your tanks are really cool. However the gravid spot will still be the best and first indicator. I believe all of the fry's anal fins will look much the same until the males develop. If you wait until you recognize the male gonopodiums, at least some of the females may be inseminated. :(

Patience. :) You're doing fine and have a week or two yet with your guppies before they may reveal their genders. ;)

All the best!
