Pictures of a few of the males in DJIsaac's Tank. The begining of trying to compaire genetic structures of his new born fry to the possible Fathers. Tail, dorsal fin ect....

Well Ive been playing and playing and playing with my camera and slowly I am becoming more adept at it. As hopefully the new pictures will show. Basicly what I am doing is trying my best to take good quality photo's of my fish so that I can follow there progress down the line, even far after the fish may die. I started with only 4 fish, all of which have died off, and yet I see so many genetic diffrences. Hopefully these pictures will help me start to map my guppy family tree, or atleast give me undying memories of them. These first two pictures is of what Im calling 'blue w endler genes - triange tail - group 1 - male 1' but not actually classing it, cause I dont know enough to class fish, expecially ones that arnt pure breeds, the Grouping # means which main batch they came out of, I only consider a group a group if there was more then 3 born.

The next two are of what I call 'blue purple w endler genes - triangle tail - group 1 - male 2' By now your probebly woundering why I have endler genes in there, mostly because I am almost possitve it exists in there structure, Shown by a red dot/line above there side fins..

This one is called 'blue purple w endler genes - triangle tail - group 1 - male 3' It has touches of yellow and green in its tail as well, but that was a bit much for a title, and its not well shown on this pic.. but none the less I think looks quite nice..

This one here is called 'blue purple w endler genes - triangle tail - group 1 - male 4' His body was in the midst of turning and so his body, looks a little bit off....

This one called 'blue purple w endler genes - triangle tail - group 1 - male 5' looks alot like Male 4, but as you can see had got in a scuffle with someone and has a slighty torn up back fin, But I think it was because of competing for the few females I had in the tank at the time..

This one here is a new batch, and thus called 'yellow orange w blue group 2 - male 1' He is starting to develop good coloring like his brothers. I am not totally happy with this pic though as it doesnt show the slight glint of orange that the human eye pic's up. While this was not my fav of that grouping, I still thought the pic turned out nice

This last one that I have here is of one of the endler's and the only one that looks like him in the whole tank, He is called 'endler - blond skin - lyre tail' I called it lyre tail, cause i think thats what it is.. but could be wrong.. The shiny green part is actually how he looks, devoid of all color but it... wierd eh, and notice how he is of the blond skin type..?

Well let me know what you think anyways. If you like them or not, I am always going to be looking for more pictures of the other males, and trying to get better ones of the ones I have here.. Well enjoy... :)

Those were great!  I'm hoping from my medley of LFS fish, I can develop something interesting.
Also, could you give me a run through on how to attach pictures?  Thanks!

well every time I do it, I gotta reteach my self, the porper coding for showing pictures is <img src=http://www.Imagelocation.place></img>

The picture has to be loaded up onto a place that allows remote linking of images, like the one I use at imagestation. when seeing my pic there I copy the image location and then post it in the link area of the above code..

Then on the bottom of your post between preview and post, there is a selection for HTML Formatted, Plain text or auto format, when posting pic's you will want to be on HTML Formatted, so that it understands to code up <all the code> And there you should have a posted picture....

But make sure you hit preview first to make sure indeed your pic does show up

Well you know me, always busy with the camera, trying to take better then the last pictures.. The first one is of another one of the Brothers from Group 1 This one is yet of another one of the brothers, and I think the last one I will post of them for a while, as the rest of the brothers look alot like the rest, I just wanted to document the ones that look uniuqe This one is of one of my breeder females, The biggest one of the bunch, and she just had kids on friday, which was almost a week ago, but you can see how much of her size she kept, her tail is mostly all black, I also believe that she is the sister of the males of whom I posted... Just to give an idea of her color liniage... This Picture is of the fry that the above female gave birth to on Friday... there is appoximatly 30 in there... And this one is of my grow out net, where a few diffrent batches all grow up to be the size in which I feel comfortable transfering them over to the 55 gallon grow out tank.. I keep them in here to make food more findable, and to increase there growth.. I think there is around 50 in there...

Could fish number 8 (second from the last) (none / 0) (#3)
by unclescott on Thu Dec 08, 2005 at 06:25:29 AM PST

be a guppy x Endler's cross?

The last one somewhat resembles the gold (xanthic) Endler's strain I have. (Now you've done it, I may have to drag out the old camera and take a crummy photo of one.) The golds are also throwing albinos.

Actually, does that last fish have pink eyes?

Your first fish in photos 1 and 2 illustrate why show standards can limit the hobby. The IFGA standards ask that dorsal fin match the caudal or tail fin. Your second guppy does that very well. But I too really like the first fish. :)

Well as I had only bought orginaly was fancy guppies, im sure that the fish in question is definatly a guppy-endler cross, but im not sure how much of the guppy part survived through.. Just because it has the endler size and coloring and tail as some of the rest, which I am still having trouble photgraphing... Sadely I have no albino fish, as usually the pink eyes would give away, but alas not a single one.. I wounder if maybe it is the gold/blond skin type that made it that way diffrent from the other endlers, who are all a normal Skin color.. Yeah, its kinda sad that I dont have anything that would be considered a show fish, or atleast nothing that would place.. I do love fish 1 (pics 1&2) coloring the most out of all of them, but you are right and its fin's dont match up, atleast on most of my fish, and the ones that do have the same lack in the tail department, Ive even noticed on my new batch, that while a bunch of them are coming out as yellow's the top fins are coming out as blue's... Just means I have to start paying attention to whom I breed with whom, to try to get them up to show quality..
