As some of you know I have guppies breeding prolifically

I was wondering if anyone knows a size rather than an age at which these guppies can breed. I know with many mammals, they won't breed before they hit a certain weight (and obviously you don't weigh fish?). I have no idea what age most of these fry are as they just keep appearing.

I've been separating the sexes when they get to be about half grown. Well that's not quite right... when the females are about 1/3 grown they go back in the female tank. The males I leave until they are about 1/2 grown as the older males are way more active and do a bit of chasing of newly introduced young males. So far I've seen no sign of "interest" in the fry tank. Please tell me what I want to hear....that the size at which I've been separating should prevent future pregnancies.

Actually, come to think of it, at what age/size does a fry become a fish ie. when do you stop calling them fry?

Thanks
miskairal
