I am relatively new to this hobby, about two months ago I got a 10gal tank and started looking around on the web to decide what kind of fish I might like.

Then I surfed in to Guppylog and made my decision. I looked at theese little fish at my local pet store and had to have some.

So now I've had two males for almost three weeks and unfortunately one has tail rot. But thanks to Guppylog I know what to do I got some medication and hopefully in a week they will be healthy again. Does anyone know how to tell if the tail will grow back? He was so pretty before and I notice he is swimming a little funny.

I use triple sulpha, it usually works.  For especially bad cases I'll add a little furozolone green.  Yeah I know you'll get lochness tank for a few days but, nothng a few water changes won't cure! :)  As far as Melafix, great for HEALING fin rot, not great for curing it.

I was just wondering what medication you used to get rid of tail rot. I had a case of it a few months ago (fotunately not with my guppies) and the guy at my LPS told me to use melafix. It seemed to work all right at the time but now months later I have it again on my corys. Also if anyone knows a couple of good treatments to use please let me know. Thanks, and good luck Lisa.

Meds. (none / 0) (#2)

Actually I hope I don't get into trouble for this, But I asked the guy at the pet store (FYI it is a small mom & pop store who pride themselves in quality) and he told me to use a med. for pond bacteria I don't have the name this moment but the minute I get home I will type it in.
Let's hope the fisheys are still ok when I get there.

Thanks, Lisa

Ok I got the name- The company is sera and the name is cyprinopur the guy at the store said that this stuff is really good and he used it on his guppies. But I would wait, I don't think mine are getting better (I'm not sure how long it takes to take effect)
Thanks, Lisa
