Breeding Behavoir

I have recently started keeping Guppies,  I have one lucky male with 3 females. One of my females has taken to lying really low in the tank. She looks ok, water is ok and she feeds ok, but I am wondering if she may be pregnant or just having a moment....like all females.....only joking.

I would like some advice from experts out there, as I have not seen this behavior from a guppy before, all the other fish in the tank are fine.

Help most appreciated.

I'm no expert either but i don't think its sick unless its laying down there more than normal because with all my guppies swim all over the tank. i'd have to say i agree with the first poster that the male is most likely after her more than the other two. now if the all start going after her then you've got a problem and she's likely to be sick.

Just my two cents hope it helps alittle. might want to check with Uncle scott though hes helped me alot. Good luck with you fish.

I have too say I'm not an expert, but Something might be tiring her out (for example the male). Is she the most colorful of the females because my males tend to go for the bigger more colorful females(even if there pregnant). Hope my non expert-self helped at least a little. good luck! L8r

In my personal experience, guppies are usually middle to top dwellers.  If your female is hanging out at the bottom a lot, I would say something is wrong. Have you noticed that the male is constantly chasing this particular female?

What is the water temp? Does she come to the top to eat? Does she swim around and then return to the bottom?

When you say the water is good, does this mean you have tested for ammonia and nitrites?

If all checks out, I'm guessing she might be pregnant and just hiding out from the male.
