could you put guppy fry in a fish bowl?

with no heater, no filter  but frequent water changes, will they survive? it seems like it could work.

tropical fish normally need heaters. If you really want to use this fish bowl i would recommend getting a lamp that can point directly at the bowl so the temperature doesnt drop to much. But make sure the lamp doesnt give off to much light or it might hurt the fish.

Survive yes.  Go properly no.   I've tried it before and the fry will grow extremely slow due to the low water temperature and quality.  You will also suffer a large number of losses due to the fact that keeping the water quality high enough for the fry is nearly impossible in an unfiltered bowl despite frequent water changes.   If I had to choose between moving the fry to an unheated bowl or leaving them to fend for themselves with the adult fish, I would leave them with the adults.

As fry I'm sure it would be ok, but from my own experience I've learned that my guppies are happier with an aeration ornament or something to give them some current to play in.  They even swim around in the bubbles as I'm trying to do water changes.  Heck, they will even swim into my pitcher that I use to take the old water out.  They've come to recognize the green object that occasionally dips into their tankso they're no longer afraid of it.

But permanently I would not recommend.  Depending on where you live, changes in weather could alter the temperature of the tank.  Too high or too low could affect your fish.

A friend of mine had a strain of dwarf gardneri. (none / 0) (#5)

He was proud of that killie, which he though was a sport he had "fixed". Imagine his chagrin when somebody else bought a pair and put them in a larger tank, with better filtration, more water changes and all the usual trimmings. The next generation was standard sized. :)

All the best!
