Lately my most activest male guppy in my 29 gallong tank has not been eating, and has been staying by the heater. He usually stays there all day until I feed them, and then he grabs food and spits it back out. I also noticed that his tail has lost color. He's a full red guppy, and his reddish orange color is very bright all over ecept for part of his tail where it has turned a lighter shade, almost white.

I'm not sure if this is because of stress or age, or sickness. But my levels are fine, I don't do water changes everyday, and none of my other fish are showing this sign. Another theory is maybe my pleco brought something to the tank.. I just don't know. Anyways , if this situation has happened to anyone before, or if you have any suggestions or ideas of what it may be, please tell. Thanks!

I had a female molly that had one bent fin , she would not eat and was staying at the top of the water. when she would swim around it was on her side. about 2 hours later before i could do any research and figure out what was wrong she had already sank to the bottom. :(  I hope the best for your male guppy

Oh no, I've researched on GL and google and I'm afraid it may be a sign of Columnaris.. I'm going to go back to doing frequent water changes, but this time, now that I have the good bacteria in my tank, I'm going to vacuum the gravel. I hope Riley, the sick guppy, and all my other guppies will survive. They actually seem to enjoy water changes, they like to swim in the water as I pour it in. :/

I read this while working on the QuickLinks page earlier and thought of columnaris but I wasn't going to mention it b/c I may have been way wrong.

Good luck (and don't buy any more fish yet)

Sorry, I havn't been on in a while, but that guppy died a day after I created this topic. I also did 25% water changes everyday, my levels have been staying normal, and all my fish are acting fine. I think I took care of the disease before it could spread... whew! Anyways check in my diary, I have an update on my tank.
