Disapointing Aquarank Rankings

I'm really not happy with our Aquarank ranking.

I am noticing that we have a ranking of 5. I vote once from home, and once from work - this means that 4 of those votes (for monday and tuesday) are mine, and I suspect the other one is my wife.

So, the vote for us block will BLINK red until we get back into the top 25. :-) Yeah, that is kind of evil, but if it works, it works.

And I haven't seen that button on GL in (5.00 / 1) (#2)
by unclescott on Tue Jan 20, 2004 at 12:06:29 PM PST

months. I even tried getting rid of all privacy and security settings (briefly) in my Internet Options. Likewise I went to security settings and registered Aquarank as a site from which  cookies should also be allowed.

I have had some trouble with anti-spam software - which I dumped because the cure was worse than the disease. I don't think though that was the connection with being unable to vote though.

Neither can I vote for Guppylog by directly going directly to Aquarank. I seem to remember being able to do that in the past. (A senior moment?)

Does their software disallow votes for names that appear rather frequently on a site?

Are there other regulars or occasional visitors from / to Guppylog who have problems voting?

Is there any way a "private citizen" can bring this to their attention?

Lacking that, Scott, could you forward parttimer's and my (and any additional) comments to them?

If they consistently don't allow active members of a site to vote, that may make a certain sense, though I would disagree with the rational. However, if that site just doesn't allow some people the chance to vote, they do have very serious issues as to the validity of their survey and ranking.

Thanks!

Scott D

You know I've wondered that too. (none / 0) (#8)

It seems to count mine only when I'm not logged in at guppylog.  I just tried to vote 5 times and the count remained at 46 (we're #25).

Hmmm. (none / 0) (#4)

The only requirement that I am aware of, is that you have to allow cookies from the domain. Usually if you set it to accept cookies from "ALL" this solves that. They want the frequent visitors to vote for the sites they like. All you have to do is click on the Aquarank button, and when the new page pops up, click on the blue link at the top of the page. If you don't allow windows to pop up, you may be unable to vote. Are you using pop-up blocking software of some sort?

Nope still nothing here while being open (5.00 / 1) (#6)
by unclescott on Wed Jan 21, 2004 at 09:48:10 AM PST

to all cookies. (Is that scary! Did a Spyhunter scan afterwards.)

Also, still no Aquarank button or blinking reminder.

Search finds pregnant, nothing else.

[The Ken's script works. He sends orders in a timely manner too. :)  ]

Grump, grump grump... is today Monday already. ;)

Thanks for putting up with us,
