ESCARGOT, ANYONE???

Yesterday I purchased two clown loaches from a great little store I found called "Doolittle's Pet Shoppe".

Hopefully, they will help me with the snail problem that I have in my deep hex display tank.

They were all hiding behind the filter in the tank at the store, and I have heard they could be quite shy.

I thought that once I let them out of the bag they would disappear for a few days, not so...

They swam around, side by side, checking out the tank, and then they started cleaning all the nooks and cranies in my large lava rock.

They were curious about my fish, and vice-verse,
but no one seemed upset.

Later, I saw them chowing down on some snails, and noticed that when they would break open the
shells, the swordtails would try to steal away  the "loot".

I'm so glad I got them, they add a different dimension to my tank.

Oh, and strange sleepers? One was face down this morning, between a broad amazon sword leaf, and the side of the tank.

Freak me right out!!!   :-)

They'd hide in the tank toys.  Took me two days to realize the last one was dead and not sleeping in fact...

Hiding places (5.00 / 1) (#5)
by guppygirl on Sat Aug 09, 2003 at 11:09:07 AM PST

Although I have many places for them to go and "chill out", I keep them all visable.
I've had fish die inside of things and it seriously grossed me out.

I found a new (to me) little independent store for my fish called, "Doolittle's Pet Shoppe"

Their clown loaches were 3 for $10.00
A little smaller than 2", but HUNGRY!!!!

They really haven't hidden at all, go figure,
I spent two hours designing a "house" for them out of colored glass and shells.
