I have very hard water and high ph level,so i add ph decreaser to keep my ph down, so i'm having a water purification system put in as i write. this will soften my water and remove all ph and everything else.I know that i will have to add ph increaser now, but is there any thing else i have to add or change so i don't kill off my tank. thanks

Water (5.00 / 1) (#1)

Once your system is put in test the pH of your water.
Hard water inhibits pH changes, so you've probably seen where pH down doesn't really work too well either.
Once the hardness has been removed, pH can then be adjusted more easily. So be careful with chemicals.
With most fish, it is not the actual pH of the water that causes stress, it is the swings in pH that affect them more.
To raise pH without chemicals, try some crushed coral in your filtering system.
Hope this helps.  :-)
