Well, we have the start of a nice community here. But, it's only the start. Update [2006-4-28 8:23:42 by Scott Lockwood]: Once again, what we all talked about approx imately 2 years ago, is still true! Please read - if everyone who hangs out here now pitched in, we'd be back in the top 25.

I'd like to see this site really take off. I'd like to see us help lots more people in our hobby, and attract lots more people who can help us. One way to do that, is to click on the aquarank buttons on the page. We're no where on the radar for those folks, and if we could get some clicks going there (which I do not benifit from financially, by the way) then we could increase awareness of the site. What do you say?

Speaking of voting, is there any way that broken image can be removed? I remember being a newb and ignoring those buttons, thinking that, if there were a broken link, the other two must not be important.

I didn't even realize there was a link there to aquabid. I've never seen an image there, I just always thought that Scott has left the Aquarank link off centre for some reason. Wow, wonders will never cease. I thought I knew all the quirks of GL :)

be because of quirks from those sites too. In the case of Aquarank, SL thinks that may be their fault.

In their defense, my inability to get their stuff and vote "back when" was probably because of "quirks" in my computer. I should have heard that far away, little voice calling and saying, "Scott... back up your files. Re-formate your hard drive. There's going to be trouble!"

I am feeling a little rediculous.......I click the "vote" button everytime I log on.....didn't realize there were 2!! Every time I look it says Guppylog is 8th... took for me to try and figure out how I see 8th and miskairal sees 32nd to realize they were 2 different sites! Fish rank and Aquarank. I was clicking on the bigger of the 2 thinking it was all the same thing.......doh!!

sheepishly going to click the second button as well tonight =)

Also look next to where Guppylog is listed 8th and there is a "Rate This Site" button that you can click as well. You don't have to leave your name and a comment for your rating to count.

see any more. Today's participants also seem very enthusiastic, but I will admit I miss some of those folks, many of whom were becoming pretty good aquarists, in addition ot being neat people. They were quite protective of Guppylog too, often votoing actively enough, that when I first dropped by here, Guppylog was in the top ten at Aquarank, which meant that they were proud of GL and out voting people from sites with many more active members.

I realize some have so busy with family, kids, jobs and other things that their interest in guppies, or at least talking about them, has waned. There is also a revolving door here of people who ask a few question, are satisfied and move on.

Do we know if all of those participants left Guppylog for the above reasons? Could we send a friendly, but rather standard e-mail to those who have been very active in the past and ask why they left and if they have any advice for GL?

Took me a while to work out what was going on here when I saw all those old names (gg, guppyAdict and red illuzion). I thought I'd read EVERY post and comment written here but they all show up as New. Don't tell me there's a whole other section I've missed?

I vote almost every day. I only miss some days when my dialup is slow slow slow.

seems to be up and running again.

I've always clicked, and have noticed our site slipping on the rankings, but increasing in "fish heads".

That's a good article to post every so often, could you jazz it up a bit for next time though?

but sometimes it won't count my vote. if i vote on monday then tuesday the vote count stays the same. i'll still keep on clicking once a day. just don't make me do any of the http>>@*// or the keys above the numbers or the 6 keys between the letters and the numbers. i can point and click.

doesn't even show on the guppylog page. I'm assuming it is a cookies/security setting issue on my computer. I have gone through Tool-Internet Options-Privacy-Edit-Always Allow to put AquaRank on all allow list. No soap.

If I go to their site, I still can't vote.

Bummer, suppose i should go back there and ask around.

The image doesn't always show for me either unc (using Opera) but I hovered over where it was meant to be and the link is still there so I clicked and it worked.

is a problem with Aquarank, I think, not your computer or our site - it happens to me every once in a while too.
