Nefertiti had fry! YAY

Nefe had 51 fry late last night. She's the purple one, Ceasar's her fav. male.  She had them COMPLETELY different than the others.  This one likes to lay, tail end under the ornaments on the bottom of the tank.  (Perhaps, trying to make sure none are eaten by wayward fish?)  She looked to be having a bit of trouble but, seems fine today.  Yay!  Gracious!  Off to get another tank at the LFS.

What do you do with all your fry?  My local LFS (small town LFS) takes in my fry once they are old enough.

Congrats and good luck!

Doing the LFS thing too (none / 0) (#3)

But, I'd rather give them to someone I know will take good care of them (another fishhhhhhhhhhhead).  Some of the local stores around here are .....well clueless on some things.  I actually got into an arguement with one who was convinced that the last guppies she got in were "a bad batch".  These weren't mine, they were shipped to her in the summer.  I was just looking for new and interesting additions.  I didn't buy any.  I counted at least 4 dead in the java moss.  Not just died either.  The dead had been there for awhile.  Needless to say, they didn't get any of mine. NO WAY!  Incidentally not the only tank that looked bad.  I keep some of them for the next generation.  If I like the color, or markings, etc.

I have balloon molly fry too.  Maybe we could swap?  Or I would buy some off of you when they are ready.

Yes, I'd love to swap fry.  They aren't ready yet.  I'll post pix and let you pick out what you want.  I can do short videos of them on the camera, (still trying to figure it out though). Got scared when I realized I sounded like my Mom and Dad trying to figure out how to program the blasted VCR years ago (betas at the time).(laughing) Where are you located?

I have a digital camera that I know takes short videos, but do you think I can figure it out?  My nephew borrowed it for my wedding and somehow he uses it once and does it!!!

My fry aren't ready either, but I noticed there's like 2 or 3 that remind me of a creamsicle in color, very pretty.  Since we're both experiencing a cold winter season, I don't know if it would be wise unless we waited until spring.  I don't know how long you wanted to keep your fry.  I've never shipped fish before.

But I have been promised a fish shipping 101 class by the gallery here!  When they're ready I have a feeling the little ones will be finding some happy homes out of state.

By the time they are ready I might be ready for some more new additions...and lord knows that I have a HUGE HUGE weakness for the purples!! I'd be more then happy to work something out with ya if you are interested in shipping them to texas =)

You bet! I told you I'd save some purples (none / 0) (#9)
by Angelee on Thu Dec 18, 2003 at 03:45:11 PM PST

I'm pretty confident that I'll get some purples out of Ceasar and Nefe's bunch.  If you want to see Mom and Dad I posted both at Imagestation.  Ceasar looks bluer on film (oddly enough).  He's dark purple with dark blue towards the body.  The webbing on his top fin has dark blue stripes and the fan is purple.  Nefe actually looks more purple on film (huh, go figure).  Anyway, I'll post em when they're ready.  You can pick em, if you like.
