I have a female guppy in a twenty gallon community tank. The tank has been up and running for approximately two and one half weeks. There are two other female guppies, three glo-lite danios, three diamond tetras, and two spotted cory catfish in the tank. This morning at "feeding time", I noticed that the guppy in question has very red, swollen gills. It almost looks like something attempted to "tear her face off", but I read something on the web about septicemia that got me concerned. Would you be inclined to think that this is injury or illness?

About a month ago,my tank water went toxic and almost all of my guppies died. (I have them in a 15 gallon tank) A few days after I cleaned the tank, I decided to get a few new ones to replace the ones who died.

I am new to this site, but I have had my tank for 5 years.
I had discovered a few months ago that one of my cherry shrimp had been attacked. The shrimp was missing limbs and part of its tail. I am trying to figure out if any other fish would be doing this, even though I just found my guppy picking away at the injured (and still alive) cherry shrimp.
