here is a quick question..I purchased my test strips today, the question is..if I have added the correct amount of salt per gallon..is my tank a freshwater tank or a saltwater tank (just so i know which squares to compare my test strips to. )

your threads Kimi, but for Just's benefit, I think it is unwise to add salt if there is no need to. In the case of mineral rich water such as is described above, the salt may increase the mineral content where it harms and even can kill the guppies. Sodium chloride will not measure on any hardness or pH kit. But it enormously raises the TDS. Oh, and you know how most water treatments and conditioners promise to add electrolytes to the water. Most of that electrolyte stuff is sodium chloride! So please don't add salt without reason. :)
