She might not have been pregnant at all. I had bought a female guppy who very fat,but it turned out she has dropsy all along. I'm sorry to say but she might not be pregnant at all.
What? Were you expecting something funny?

questions. Yours is a very sick guppy. Whether she will drop fry or not, probably none of us know. Try a lot of TLC, beginning with a 25% water change with treated water, the same temperature as that of the aquarium. The next day possible, do a 30% water change with treated water. (If you have some gallon water bottles, fill and treat them now so they will be ready.) Walk those frequent partial water changes up to 45%.

Dropsy is a sign or actually signs of several bacterial infections. The vast majority of times, those things happen because the aquarium's water isn't as clean as it could be. Maybe she will become well enough to drop fry before she probably does die. If I were to bet, I would bet no though. :(

After the water change, please click on the link to Immediate Help and read up on Cycling an Aquarium and then check out the sections on guppy breeding and caring for the fry. ;)

Guppylover427 also raises a good question. The guppy could have been pregnant. The fight against bacterial infections could have killed the fry or dramatically slowed down their development. Her body had other uses for her food. And female guppies have even been known to reabsorb fetuses.

Good luck and all the best!
