well, i'm wondering about this new order... | 3 comments (3 topical, editorial, 0 hidden)
Good advice, I'm sorry about what happened in your (none / 0) (#2)

tank.

Nancy, you are effectively using your tank to quarantine too many fish. You may get away with it. You may lose them all.

Feed sparing. If you have floating plants, so much the better. Can you get more in there. ;)

Leave the kights off the first day. Then, if it doesn't heat up the tank, make sure the light is on 12-14 house so the plants thrive.

Have gravel so your shrimp can adjust. (Smooth bottoms seem to correlate with some of those going into shock.)

Oh, and did I suggest feeding sparingly until the nitrogen cycle has righted itself. ;)

This sort of thing is all too common among us where we try and get our shipping money's worth. It also is a danger for those who attend a fish auction and stay to the end - when everything, just about, is given away for a song.

Good luck and all the best!

thanks unc. i didn't actually realize how bad of an idea it all was until...you get it.

erm,  i'm not using the 10 as the QT, i'm using it as my main until the 40 comes. and cycles.

thanks for the suggestion on feeding. i'll skip feeding the first day and then "feed sparingly" until about a week. unless you think more time is needed.

and water changes, right? to keep ammonia down?
