Thank you all for your input.  I decided that since I do things pretty 'old school'  with a minimum of tank equipment the cost of additional tanks, bought brand new, wasn't that much to bear and it eliminated the stress of wondering if I had brought some rare African Jungle Rot parasite/bacteria/virus into the house.
