Re: Hey GL 15! (none / 0) (#3)

Hi Guppyluver and da unc.

I still drop in about once a week and have a quick read but I seem to have overallocated my free time these days. It's kind of funny as once upon a time GL was ALWAYS my first port of call when I logged on to the net. I feel a bit bad about not helping out round here but then others are quite capable. It IS great to see everyone giving out such good answers.

My tanks! Well my lovely big 6 foot reef tank sprung a leak a few weeks ago. Not sure why although you can take a look here and see where
A Worm did this
Took me about 6 hours to get everything out of the tank and into spare tanks and rubbish bins with pumps running - big drama. Worse part was I'd brought a new fish home just 2 days prior who was in quarantine and I had to put most of my fish (4) of them into the q tank with him. They are all still there and so far appear healthy thank goodness. One coral appears to have succumbed to it all and my shrimp threw a claw.

A week later I got everything back into the tank (apart from the fish in the Q tank) and this is what it looks like now
27th October

Still have two tanks of guppies but I hope to eventually get that down to just one tank. I have 5 tanks running in total right now which is too much really, you ought to see our power bill!!

I'm getting very involved with the marine aquarium society of Qld and looks like I've been handed the job of doing the newsletters, eek. I've done one and it was way more effort than I ever imagined. Just like here at GL there are so many wonderful people there too. There is even a guy who is a quadriplegic who does a lot of DIY type stuff (he has limited use of one hand and that's it, must take him forever to do it).

So GuppyLuver, I'm not really here anymore but like unc I get a kick out of seeing others like you come back from time to time.

Hey Miskairal! Good to hear from you! (none / 0) (#4)

That second photo shows a wonderful tank. The first photo suggests that your water must be pretty amazingly hard! ;)

And a worm bored out of the tank?

Power bills! That's why I heat the room rather than individual tanks, have tanks on racks side by side and hang fluorescent lights for all of them over head.

Great to hear you too unc!!
We think it was some sort of worm. Don't know and will probably never know but the leak went under the silicone to the front of the tank then down as you can see in the pic.

Heating shouldn't be a problem now summer is back but my tanks are in a room that is about 50 feet x 20 feet I'd guess so it's a bit big to heat.

We've had rain!!!! 4 inches!!!! Yay, we have grass again!!!!!
