It is a terrible thought, but one could be seriously hurt, blinded or could even bleed to death from the cuts made by flying glass. Glad nobody was hurt. Pleased that after all of that, you're still in the hobby. :)
Sometimes I wonder what wrong lessons are learned by impressionable people who see guys jump/ dive/ fall through windows in movies and never get scratched. Talk about fantasy!
As for tanks, guess we need to be more than careful about buying a bargain!
You know this Parttimer, but for those unfamiliar with large tanks, they need to be level. Use a carpenters's level and stuff cardboard shims under the sides of the bottom (not just corners, though especially watch the corners) until the empty tank is completely level. After a little water is added, double check and re-shim as needed. Only then fill it up.
I once still had to completely drain and re-set a larger tank. It beat the alternatives.
