DEAD FRY...ALL FRIED UP :S | 7 comments (7 topical, editorial, 0 hidden)
Re: MIGHT BE GIVING BIRTH RIGHT NOW (none / 0) (#5)
by trinidadian on Fri Feb 18, 2005 at 02:19:19 PM PST

Just after my previous relpy, I went to go check on them. I noticed the pregnant guppy was missing :S So I looked in every possible hiding spot i.e the plants, plastic sea shell. I found her hiding under the sea shell which she has never ever done before. I figure she is hiding from the rest to give birth. Hopefuly I'll get some more information on how to keep these fry alive before they all come out

Hey Jameel,

As a despiser of those breeder traps, I'd recommend not using one.

Make sure that the fry have a lot of hiding places, plants, decorations, what ever.

Be careful, and maybe hold off a bit on vacuuming on this tank in case the female has dropped.

Continue to change out some water, but don't mess around with the gravel too much.

If you get a breeder net, (one that hangs on the side of the tank), sometimes you can scoop up fry that come to the top. Fry can be attracted to the light, and put them in the net to protect them from becoming din-din.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and keep us posted!!
