They are not "stupid" remarks. If you'd given us the right information in the first place then we'd have been able to answer you yesterday instead of wasting a day dragging info out of you. If you'd given us enough information, it would require the use of several paragraphs. Now go and explain to your fish how it is in agony b/c you were too lazy to write more!

This is a user moderated site and the users here prefer you to use proper English, correct spelling and punctuation and the all important paragraphs. Makes reading so much easier and seeing as how we give advice for free, you might be mindful of your manners - yep, you picked a BAD day to make that comment as right now I've had it with rude people!

Sounds like you don't need a picture as I think you just answered it yourself - Ammonia!

Ammonia is deadly. It is even more deadly at higher temperatures and higher pH but toxicity decreases with salinity.

Is this a new tank cycling? Have you read about tank cycling/new tanks?

You have to get those ammonia levels down. I've heard it suggested here before that a short term fix is something like Ammolock which will bind up the ammonia for a bit. Water changes will decrease the ammonia but increase the time it takes for your tank to cycle.

You could also try slowely lowering your temp to maybe 20c to decrease toxicity.

Ammonia attacks and destroys the mucous membranes of the skin and intestine. It can also damage the brain and central nervous system and make the fish more vulnerable to disease including fin rot.

Now go and grab some humility and wait and see if someone way more knowledgable than me can tell you exactly how to save your fish.

OK Guppysferle,

If anyone has a pea brain here, IT IS YOU!!!
(Cap locks and three !'s intentional)

I am an editor on this site.

I try to correct certain kinds of errors to help make reading someone's entry a little easier to understand.

GOT IT?

However, I  couldn't even do that for you because your question was soooo vague, I didn't know what to EDIT!

By the way, what is a "HIG AMMONIA PROBLEM" anyway?

Anyone got a clue?

One more post like that, and your account is history. Be a dick to one of my friends one more time, and not only will I delete you, I'll report the incident to your ISP for abuse.

It's an attitude like that (none / 0) (#8)

That will make others not ever answer your questions again.  And even worse, I'm sure the moderator will not appreciate your lack of respect and your login could be blocked from the site.  If you're looking to play games, go elsewhere and take your fish with you.

Ammonia causes holes and raw patches - it burns. Burns = PAIN!!

Can you please tell us:
1. How long you have had your fish?
2. How many fish you have?
3. What size is your tank?
4. How long the tank has had fish in it (which may well be a different answer to no. 1)?
5. How often you do water changes?
6. How much water do you change each time?
7. Exactly what your "very high" Ammonia level is?

If it's not too much trouble can you
* Left click the link at the top right hand corner of this page that says "QuickLinks"
* Scroll down until you find "New Tank/Cycling/Setting Up/Water Changing"
* Left click the 3rd link under that heading that says "Ammonia Problem"
* Read the page
* Go to http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/CapsLockOff.shtml and download the software that will help you to not accidentally hit your caps lock key.
