That's definitely an awesome find! It sounds like they have found a loving new home so I hope they flourish for them! Their immune systems must be extremely strong to survive that long of neglect.

I can't believe a piece of meat in the thing! In time it would have taken it down.

Greenwater (without the long lecture) uses up an amazing amount of ammonia and the like in photosynthesis. One article in the Aquatic Gardener' Publication suggested that greenwater tanks seldom show any ammonia and that other stuff because it is all being used up.

I agree manders. It sometimes just doesn't seem fair!

Still I'm glad for the rescue and applause for Katie and miskairal's son!

Yeah Manders, you're right but then we don't know how many fish died before Katie found it either.

I agree unc with the greenwater thing and the lack of feeding probably saved their little butts and they were able to survive on what was in the water. I assumed the chop bone was pretty bare when it went in which may have been months ago.

one of many fish heads I really like, except that he is more sensitive and thoughtfu; than I, who was hosting a party. Evidently a guest got sick and threw up in the fairly large tank with the firemouth cichlids.

"What happened?" I anxiously asked.

My friend replied something along the line of, they lived. I did have to change all the water the next morning.

Just amazing! Note I wasn't at that party. Bet the firemouths wish they weren't either! ;)

Now this sounds like a fish story. :)

I'm going to make the assumption that the vomiting was alcohol induced. I'm surprised that the fish could survive that mixed with variuos stomach acids and what not. I wonder if the fish got drunk?

more amazing. I don't think (in this case) my informant was pulling my leg though! Perhaps the sick individual had a bad aim.

A. I wouldn't have hosted such a party. B. If someone wandered in to a gathering of mine and pulled that stunt, I wouldn't be here. Probably serving time. ;)
