I think you may be correct in guessing that the (none / 1) (#2)

organisms which would cause dropsy are in all of your (and our) tanks. So long as you keep up the water changes (easier for me to say than do) there is probably no more danger for that fish there than in other tanks. Probably she is not much more likely to be a carrier than the siphon hose.

As Geo suggests (smirks?) the "Lack of interest" by the males in her may be because they already impregnated her. While she may be too young to reproduce, you might ask yourself whether you will be able to ID her in the female tank if she proved pregnant. Of course if she drops and you let the females eat the fry, that is not an issue. Then again you feed your females so well, they have left fry alone. :)

Would your "silver sharks" leave her alone but eat her fry? Just trying to find a home for her. ;)

I'll shift her in with the females anyway.

The rest of the females will still be pregnant for months to come so having one dropping fry a month later probably won't make much difference except that maybe that Silver Shark will be hungrier :)

So far, none of my tanks have gone more than 7 days without a water change. I've discovered what an advantage I have here with the acidic rainwater and the alkaline creek water. I just test the pH of a tank prior to cleaning and adjust the fresh water to suit what's required without doing too dramatic a change.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of the length you would expect a 4 week old guppie and an 8 week old guppie to be?

Guppy production here is exploding. They'll be climbing out of the tanks and taking over our house soon. If any of you are able to put down fry and are planning a visit to Oz soon, please contact me :)) I just can't do it and even saved one the other day that nearly went out with the water!
