"Need help with a green tank"
Posted on Sun Aug 3rd, 2003 at 14:01:45 CST
Please seek the causes of why you have green water. Read that previous sequence for a lot of useful ideas.
It is in your best interest to find the cause(s) of the green water and deal with it/them.
I would caution you about putting an algae poison in a tank.
Dropping an algicide also costs money, sucks oxygen out of the tank as all sorts of zooplankton and phytoplankton die, takes micro-foods away from fry, adds more "stuff" to the tank - raising tds, may stunt plant growth and in the long run (look to see if it has simazine in it), according to a study published some years back, may cause birth defects in fry.
As a young person, ask yourself if you want to put your hands in that! :0
You piked my curiosity: How would you lower the alkalinity and why? :)
We wouldn't ever want to disrespect you because you're 13. Anyone who asks a question on a forum is going to feel a little nervous about it. That's ok - and it has happened to us all.
It continues. While calling a nationally famous speaker to inquire about bringing him to Chicago next March, I was dismayed to hear my voice crack - and I remember Pangea. ;)
It took me longer than you will take to learn to click on "older stories" and "next page". We all learn a little differently.
Anyone, of any age, is encouraged to not panic, read around the site and elsewhere (which you have obviously done some), ask questions and keep trying. :)
