My Guppie Tank is turning a murky Green colour??? | 7 comments (5 topical, 2 editorial, 0 hidden)
Welcome to Guppylog Mini ! (none / 0) (#1)
by unclescott on Mon Dec 08, 2003 at 07:32:04 AM PST

The search engine at the bottom of the g.l. home page doesn't suggest anything in response to "greenwater" or "green water".

Please take a look at the log "Need help with a green tank"
Posted on Sun Aug 3rd, 2003 at 14:01:45 CST

and all of the comments which go with it.

There will be a quiz later. ;)

That may give you some help. The comments may also generate more questions or not answer all you have.

That's ok.

We'll look forward to your response(s) later today or tomorrow. :)

Can't find it dude!!!! (none / 0) (#4)

I couldn't find the section you told me!!!
But I think that it might be algea, (hey & do you mind laying off, I'm only 13) I think that I will get some algea treatment for my tank because it is still green. I will test the PH tonight again and will probaly have to lower the Alkalinity.
By the way, what is trolling? It was a post comment.
Your site seems really cool,
any probs I have I'll probaly go to GuppyLog striaght away unless I need an answer that instant.

See ya dude

Trolling is too complicated to explain here, but search on google for it - you'll find it in no time. :-)

G'day M.G.! To find a back article or log... (none / 0) (#5)
by unclescott on Tue Dec 09, 2003 at 12:07:09 PM PST

scroll down on the right side of the homepage. Click on
"Older Stories"
you will get a list of the 30 most recent stories,
go to the bottom of the page and click on
"next page"
keep clicking on "next page" until you are back to Aug 3rd.

You will find #146 on the hit parade
"Need help with a green tank"

Please seek the causes of why you have green water. Read that previous sequence for a lot of useful ideas.

It is in your best interest to find the cause(s) of the green water and deal with it/them.

I would caution you about putting an algae poison in a tank.

Dropping an algicide also costs money, sucks oxygen out of the tank as all sorts of zooplankton and phytoplankton die, takes micro-foods away from fry, adds more "stuff" to the tank - raising tds, may stunt plant growth and in the long run (look to see if it has simazine in it), according to a study published some years back, may cause birth defects in fry.

As a young person, ask yourself if you want to put your hands in that! :0

You piked my curiosity: How would you lower the alkalinity and why? :)

We wouldn't ever want to disrespect you because you're 13. Anyone who asks a question on a forum is going to feel a little nervous about it. That's ok - and it has happened to us all.

It continues. While calling a nationally famous speaker to inquire about bringing him to Chicago next March, I was dismayed to hear my voice crack - and I remember Pangea. ;)

It took me longer than you will take to learn to click on "older stories" and "next page". We all learn a little differently.

Anyone, of any age, is encouraged to not panic, read around the site and elsewhere (which you have obviously done some), ask questions and keep trying. :)

Of course that is now #147 and increasing (none / 0) (#7)

because the numbers of articles keeps rising as more submissions are made and accepted. ;)

I guess that is why one needs to just go back to a date, in this case Aug 3.
