Is she pregnant? | 4 comments (4 topical, editorial, 0 hidden)
Welcome back (none / 0) (#3)

to the hobby! Typically a female will be preg for about 28-30 days, though there is no set schedule just like humans. If her gravid spot is getting larger and darker that is a good sign, and usually when they are 1-3 days away I notice that the females belly gets a "squared" off appearance. Also I have noticed that when they are getting close to birth they will try to hide and stay solo. They goldfish will absolutely eat the fry (likely the parents too) so I would get more live plants, floating plants are very good, maybe a seperate birth tank where the fry can stay for a week or so afterwards.
Good luck!
Cloe
